A front entry without a proper concrete porch is one of those things that stands out - not in a good way. It affects how the home looks, how it functions day to day, and honestly how it holds up through years of foot traffic and weather. This 6x24 porch job in Oldham County is a good example of what it takes to do it right from the ground up.

The prep work is where most of the outcome is decided. Before a single yard of concrete gets poured, the forms have to be set correctly, the base gravel has to be properly compacted, and anything nearby - like siding, stone facades, and windows - needs to be protected. We took care to plastic-wrap the stone veneer and house exterior so nothing got splashed or stained during the pour. Small steps like that matter a lot when you're working tight against an existing structure.

Once the forms were locked in and the base was solid, we pumped the concrete in and got to work finishing. Two of our guys worked the screed and trowels in tandem to pull the surface flat and smooth before it had a chance to set up. That's the kind of teamwork that keeps the pour consistent from one end of a 24-foot slab to the other.

The finished porch sits clean and level, framed nicely by the covered entry and the stone skirt below. It's a big improvement in how the front of this home reads from the street - and more importantly, it's built on a proper base that'll hold up for years without cracking or settling. That's the whole point.

If you've got a porch, pad, or slab that needs to be added or replaced, we do this kind of work regularly across the area. Solid prep, clean pours, and no shortcuts.
