Here's what we were working with - an old weathered wood deck that had run its course. Rotting boards, aging railings, the whole thing just worn out. Instead of patching something that wasn't worth saving, the homeowner wanted a fresh start. A solid concrete outdoor patio that would last and actually look good doing it.

Demo came first. We pulled the deck out completely and got the ground excavated and prepped properly. This is the part most people don't see, and honestly it's the most important part. We packed in a compacted gravel base, set the rebar grid, and made sure everything was framed out square before a single yard of concrete was poured. Skipping those steps is how you end up with a cracked slab two winters later.

Once the base was ready, we poured the concrete and hand-finished the entire surface. You can see the crew working the edges and surface to get a clean, consistent finish. The control joint cuts were run across the full pad to manage cracking the right way - not an afterthought, just part of doing it right. Wooden steps were built to connect the back door down to the new pad.

What the homeowner ended up with is a low-maintenance concrete patio that doesn't rot, doesn't splinter, and doesn't need to be re-stained every other year. No more dealing with a deck that's one bad board away from being a liability. Just a clean, durable outdoor space that's ready to be used.

Whether you've got an old deck that's past its prime or just an empty backyard that needs a real outdoor patio, this kind of work is exactly what we do. Prep matters. Finish matters. And the end result speaks for itself.
