Side yards are one of those spots that can go from fine to a total problem fast - especially after other work gets done on the property. Once the ground gets torn up, drainage systems get disrupted, and suddenly you've got standing water, mud, and a space that's basically unusable.

Here's what we were working with on this one. The narrow corridor between the house and fence had turned into a muddy soup. Water was sitting, the ground was completely churned up, and the existing river rock drainage bed was buried under the mess. A section near the basement window well had been excavated and left exposed. Not a pretty situation.

We worked through the whole space - cleaning up the excavated areas, getting the grade right, and restoring the river rock bed so it could actually do its job again. Drainage like this only works when water has somewhere to go and a clear path to get there. When the rock gets displaced or the ground underneath gets disturbed, you lose that function entirely.

What you end up with when it's done right is a side yard that handles water the way it should. The rock bed runs clean from fence to house, the window wells are clear, and there's no more pooling. It looks better too - which matters when it's right outside your home.

If your property is holding water or a side yard has been left in rough shape after other work, that's something we handle. Proper excavation and drainage restoration keeps problems from turning into bigger - and more expensive - issues down the line.
