A whole-home generator is only as reliable as the foundation it sits on. A lot of homeowners focus on picking the right unit - and that part matters - but the site prep work underneath it is what actually keeps that unit stable, level, and performing the way it should for years down the road.

Here's what we were working with: an existing landscaped bed along the side of the house, right next to the gas meter. The spot made sense for a generator placement, but the ground needed to be properly excavated and prepped before anything could go in. We dug out the area, got a clean, level base established, and set the wooden form with a gravel sub-base to give the concrete something solid to cure against. No shortcuts on that step - it matters.

Once the pad cured out, we got the Generac unit set right on top. Clean. Level. Right up against the house where it needs to be. The surrounding hostas and mulch bed were worked back in around the pad so the finished result actually looks intentional - not like someone just dropped a generator in the middle of a flower bed.

That's really the thing about this kind of work. It's not just digging a hole and pouring concrete. You're working around existing landscaping, gas lines, and utility hookups. Getting the placement right from the start means the electrician and gas tech can do their work cleanly, and the homeowner ends up with a setup that looks good and functions the way it should.

If you've been thinking about adding a standby generator to your home, the concrete pad and site prep is a big piece of that puzzle. We handle that part from the ground up - excavation, forming, pour, and cleanup - so the install team has exactly what they need to finish the job right.
